Student Grants

By virtue of our generous sponsors, a certain number of grants will be offered to students in the field of accelerator science from laboratories and institutions in each region (Asia, Europe, the Americas). The grants include a waiver of registration fees and a per diem allowance to be used toward lodging and food while attending the conference.

Grant recipients will be expected to:

  • Present their work in the student poster session on Sunday, April 29, 2018
  • Submit a contribution to the IPAC'18 proceedings
  • Volunteer to act as scientific secretaries during one or two sessions
    (assisting the session chairs/running microphones)

Applications accompanied by reference letters must be made by using the online application form available via the JACoW (Joint Accelerator Conferences Website collaboration) and accounts at the IPAC’18 Scientific Program Management System (SPMS).

A JACoW username and password is required to register. Members who have previously attended, exhibited at, or submitted an abstract to a member conference of JACoW may use their pre-existing JACoW login. If you do not have an account or have forgotten your account details, follow the instructions under "Finding a Profile".

Letters of support and/or references, signed by the supervisor, head of the institute, laboratory or university department where the young scientist is working and/or studying, are required for each application. These documents must be emailed to the IPAC'18 Local Student Grant Program Manager, Oliver Kester.

Deadline for applications and reference letters: Saturday, December 2, 2017

We will notify student grant applicants regarding the status of their application by Friday, February 9, 2018

All students who have applied for a grant are invited to participate in the student poster session on Sunday, April 29, 2018, between 14:00 and 18:00. This includes students who did not receive a grant. The student poster session is separate from the main poster session, and is an opportunity to showcase your work.

Students who receive a grant have to attend the student poster session and have to be available for conference support throughout the conference – help in the sessions with the microphone.
